Spurious Calls 

Beware of misleading telephone calls from people posing as LIC officials, agents, IRDAI Officials, Officials from ECI (Office of the Executive Council of Insurers) etc. and offering alluring benefits.

Please be informed that: 

• LIC does not share bonus information with the policyholders through phone calls.
• LIC never encourages policyholders to discontinue its existing policy/policies.

Important Dos & Don’ts Dos: 

1. Verify the correctness of policy information through our website www.licindia.in or contact any nearest LIC Branch.
2. Please register a police complaint along with details of phone number with the police station in your jurisdiction.
3. Report suspicious calls with brief particulars of the call through e-mail to spuriouscalls@licindia.com 

Don’ts 

1. Do not entertain calls from unverified sources.
2. If the caller is persuading you to surrender your policy to claim extra benefits, please do not entertain such calls.

LIC policy surrender value

Surrender Value: 

Policy condition states that if policy premium is not paid within the grace period, the policy lapses. If a policy holder wants to discontinue within 3 years from date of commencement, no refund would be paid. 

If the policy premium is paid for full 3 years then only after completion of 3rd i.e from 4th year beginning only , policy loan would be available. Surrender value or cash value is made available generally when the policy has remained in force for at least three years. 

Documents to be submitted for surrender of policy: 

1. Policy bond
2. Surrender forms duly stamped, signed and witnessed
3. Id proof like PAN or Aadhaar card copy
4. Cancelled cheque leaf (name should be printed) or Photocopy of the Bank passbook containing details of Bank Account number, IFSC and MICR
